USRP is an open source platform
for signal processing (www.ettus.com).
Simsonar utilizes its powerfull capacity of signal handling and
available source code libraries including decimation, interpolation and
conversions.
The USRP has four analog to
digital converters being able to handle 64 million samples per second.
Respectively there are four digital to analog converters with the
capacity of 128 million samples per second. The input
and output channels are connected to an Altera Cyclone FPGA. The
USRP connects to the computer via a high speed USB2 interface (480
Mbps). Simsonar Reflector operates in the frequencies between 10 kHz
and 2 MHz which leaves a significant amount of overhead for Simsonar
application.
USRP supports multiple daughter boards that in Simsonar applications are sound transducers called AFE's (Analog Front End).
